Earth day….

I have always been a firm believer in taking care of the earth. A big part of taking care of the earth to me means using products which are responsible and use clean ingredients. My clean organic obsession has stemmed from skin care. As a child and now as an adult eczema has been a large part of my life as have my many food and environmental allergies.

I wanted to share a few of my favourite beauty products which I use daily….

One Love Organics uses a variety of fruit extracts and many other clean ingredients, their Vitamin C brightening serum is a favourite of mine which I use twice a day!

Everyone needs a good mascara! The length and volume I get is simply stunning for such a natural organic product.

All time favourite lip balm in a million yummy flavours.

Everyone needs a good wipe and these are my secret weapon for everything. I honestly never knew that a baby wipe could feel so good and clean so well. Typical  brands use alcohols and other ingredients which are harmful and can cause irritation. The improvement I saw after switching to these is undeniable!

I can go on forever about all the products I have switched and now love, but I will leave you with this… we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors but borrow it from our children.

Capturing the Moment

I am a researcher at heart, I thrive on researching a project or service. Searching for value versus service, and scouring for the perfect option has always been something I have spent tons of time on. Which is why I am so excited to share with all of you this guest post about a really great app, Galaxy Photoz. A new tool to help people that need honest and professional photography services. Leanne Ferguson is the brains behind the company and the amazing service it has to offer, check it all out below!

Whether you’ve reached the stage in life where you’ve had to hire someone for a professional service or not, you’ll want to continue reading this article. Take for example, hiring a photographer.

If a colleague cannot point you in the right direction when looking for a photographer, you’d typically have to go online, search through portfolios, check reviews then call for quotes and availability to find a professional photographer. When Galaxy Photoz launches this June, you could simply download the app or go online and be connected to a vetted professional photographer within minutes.

Galaxy Photoz is launching a new platform that serves as a middle man between the client and the photographer. All transactions that take place on the platform will be insured and backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee. The platform will be a website, and native IOS and Android mobile apps. It will offer 9 types of photography provided by vetted professional photographers only. The best part is that it is one of the only platforms that offers on demand same day photography service.

Instead of leaving a deposit with someone you just found on the internet, your deposit will be held by this third party until you receive your images and approve.

Within a few minutes you’ll be talking with a pro. The photographers specialize in Maternity, Newborn, Cake Smash, Headshots, Engagements, Wedding, Events, Model Portfolio and Portraits.

While they do not launch the new app until June, there are many ways to benefit from this company today. The current website is live now, at http://www.galaxyphotoz.com. You can also fly drones by supporting their launch on Indiegogo today and get other really cool perks and discounted photo shoots while they last. With a rating system similar to UBER both parties can rest assure they’re in good hands. While currently active in Toronto, Galaxy Photoz is currently raising funds to support the go to market strategy for launching the new platform in numerous cities across North America.

Coffee Table Love

Over the past year I have taken a bit of break while pursuing some career goals. In this time I have shifted my focus to marketing and what impact my marketing role has on sales. If there are any sales readers or marketers out there reading this you know the connection is undeniable! I have studied away and will continue to educate and develop myself but of course have not forgotten my design roots!

Join me as I post more often about things I love and am passionate about! I hope to be able to inspire you all and develop my communication and writing skills while doing so!

So to begin, Coffee table love!

I must admit I am a bit of a pack rat! I love all beautiful things and often find myself with too many trinkets, alas I admit I love them all and endeavour to find a place for them in my home or someone else’s!

Part of this obsession is with books and magazines, which I find a useful and key styling tool.

I must admit (as seen above), I always keep a stack of design magazines handy and good book!

I tend to mix book sizes for optimal stacking and find the use of colour very important. Below is a great example of using a colour theme for styling, although not always possible dependant on your book collection this adds an element of harmony.

There is certainly no wrong way to stack books on whatever surface you are styling but always keep in mind a few key things;

– an odd number of items always look best together

– use size to create visual harmony to allow your eye to travel from one place to another flawlessly

– colour can be used to highlight and accent a design

Most importantly use what you have. It is always refreshing to reorganize your home with things you have to make to make it feel new again!

How Houseplants Make For a Healthier Home

This weekend I would like to share a special guest post from Modernize, there team has delved into the green world of house plants!

houseplants 1

Decorating your home with a variety of houseplants is a great way to bring a sense of the outdoors inside, which is sure to keep stress levels low and provide some peace of mind for your family. In fact, houseplants make for a healthier home overall—many work to improve your household’s health, increase comfort levels, and invigorate the senses. Modernize suggests using houseplants to address the following issues you may experience while spending time at home:

houseplants 2

Air Pollution

Studies indicate that many houseplants have the ability to filter the air, which will make your home a healthier place to spend time. Toxins such as volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde, and benzene can be eliminated by introducing the right plants into your household. Consider decorating each room in your home with chrysanthemums, spider plants (pictured above), or peace lilies.

houseplants 3

Congestion

By implementing eucalyptus plants into your home design, you can improve air quality and decrease congestion among family members all year long. Eucalyptus (above) contains natural compounds that works to clear congestion when released into the air. The smell of eucalyptus is vibrant, making an effective natural air freshener that won’t overwhelm the senses no matter how small of a space the plant is in.

houseplants 4

Humidity

If your household experiences excessive humidity throughout the year, try incorporating English ivy into the mix. In addition to being one of the most effective air purifiers in the plant world, English ivy does an excellent job of pulling unnecessary moisture out of the air for a more comfortable atmosphere indoors.

houseplants 5

Insomnia

Gerbera daisies happen to release extra oxygen throughout the night, which can help relieve insomnia symptoms and increase the quality of your rest once you get to sleep. You’ll need to move them to a windowsill for an hour or so a couple times a week to provide them with sufficient sunlight for healthy growth.

With these considerations in mind, you’ll be able to create a home environment that lets your family breathe, laugh, and live easier on a daily basis.

Thank you to Modernize for the amazing above guest post. All images and content original from Modernize!

Pop Up Shop Love

Although I live on the east coast I still love to keep up with design and fashion to the south a.k.a Los Angeles!

Recently Rachel Zoe debut her pop up shop @ The Grove LA designed by Lucinda Pace of Laurel & Wolf and it is to die for!
